Training is an integral part of a healthy, balanced lifestyle for dogs of all ages. Not only does it help with skills and behavior, but it provides much-needed enrichment and mental stimulation—even just 15 minutes of focused training is equivalent to one hour of leash walking!
At Room for Paws Pet Resort, we’re thrilled to offer a variety of programs tailored to your dog’s needs. Each of our training programs is designed with your dog’s development in mind, combining expert, positive reinforcement-based training techniques with a nurturing approach to create lasting results. All participants receive a copy of their training curriculum to help maintain their progress at home.
Below, we’ll go over some of our training programs so you can find the perfect fit for your pup!
Basic Manners
This program covers the basic foundational training needed for a well-behaved dog both at home and in public. In it, you’ll learn how to understand, guide, and communicate with your pup, while your pup will learn key concepts and commands such as sit, stay, come, down, drop it, and leash walking without tugging or pulling.
Additionally, this program teaches you how to build communication and confidence with your dog and teaches your dog how to behave in real-world situations.
- Participants: Parent and pup
- Ages: 5 months and older (no age limit)
- Class Size: Small group (6 dogs maximum per class)
- Schedule: Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 PM
- Start Date: February 12th, 2025, with new sessions starting every 5 weeks
- Duration: 5 weeks
- Requirements: Up to date on all vaccinations

Curb Your Dog’s Enthusiasm
Does your dog get a little too excited when guests arrive? Drag you on leashed walks? Then this program is for you!
Curb Your Dog’s Enthusiasm is designed for excited, enthusiastic, and energetic dogs who need a little extra help mastering self-control with real-world activities. In it, we expand on what was learned in Basic Manners, and focus on teaching practical strategies for everyday challenges, enabling your dog to remain calm and focused—even in exciting and new situations.
- Participants: Parent and pup
- Ages: 5 months and older (no age limit)
- Class Size: Small group (6 dogs maximum per class)
- Schedule: Every Wednesdays from 6:35 to 7:35 PM
- Start Date: February 12th, 2025, with new sessions starting every 5 weeks
- Duration: 5 weeks
- Requirements: Completion of our Basic Manners (or any prior basic training) and up to date on all vaccinations
Our Additional Training Programs
At Room for Paws, we believe in the importance of continued training for dogs of all ages. Other training programs we offer include:
- Day Training: Private 30-minute training sessions between your dog and a professional trainer. These sessions can be added to any daycare or boarding stay to provide continuity in their training goals.
- Private Family Training: 60-minute sessions with a pet parent, your pup, and a professional trainer tailored to your family’s specific training needs.
- Puppy Preschool: All-day small group training program that provides crucial socialization, foundational obedience skills, and confidence building—it’s the perfect way to set your new puppy up for a lifetime of positive interactions with both dogs and people! After completion, puppies can graduate to our small group doggy daycare programs and continue with day training, or any of our specialized training programs, as needed.
Coming this spring, we’ll be hosting puppy socialization playdates for puppies that are 9 to 16 weeks of age and up to date on their vaccines. This program will provide safe, supervised socialization to help puppies build confidence and learn appropriate play behaviors during this crucial development stage.
